RALEIGH, N.C. -- Christopher Newport University rookie Kelsey Snyder scored her first career goal and assisted on two more to help lead the Captains (7-6-1, 5-1-1) past Peace College (1-16-0, 0-8-0) on Sunday, 7-0. O'Shaughnessy's classmate Erin O'Shaughnessy also had a one goal, two assist day for CNU, while senior Shelby Walters led the way with two goals scored.

CNU wasted no time taking a big lead on the Pacers, scoring three goals in the first ten minutes of action. The eventual gamewinner came off the foot of Snyder just 1:34 into the game, on O'Shaughnessy's first assist of the game. Then, just five minutes later, the two switched roles as Snyder helped on O'Shaughnessy's first career goal.

Jordan Walker rounded out the early barrage off an assist from senior Elise Haug in the tenth minute of action to give CNU the early 3-0 cushion.

After about fifteen minutes of quiet play, the Captains opened up another quick strike, triggered by sophomore Jackie Bond's second goal of the year in the 27th minute of action, on Snyder's second assist. Just over a minute later, Walters scored off an assist by sophomore Carly Utterback, and then again in the 35th minute off an assist by rookie Priscilla Harrison

The Captains pulled off the gas for the rest of the game, scoring just one more goal in the 67th minute. Sophomore defender Alexis Stahlman scored on O'Shaughnessy's second assist to finish for the final tally, 7-0.

CNU was extremely efficient on offense, putting 15 of their 20 shots on goal in the game, including the seven goals scored. The Captains outshot Peace 20-2, allowing just 1 shot on-goal the entire afternoon. CNU's sophomore goalkeeper Emily Brown made her first career start and wrapped up the clean sheet for the Captains third shutout of the season.

Christopher Newport will return to action this Wednesday, October 26 at Lynchburg College for a 6:00 pm kickoff.
