RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Christopher Newport University women's soccer team is headed to North Carolina this weekend, for a pair of USA South Athletic Conference games. The Captains will take on Meredith College on Saturday, October 22 at 2:00 pm, and then will face Peace College on Sunday, October 23 at 2:00 pm.
CNU is 5-6 overall with a 3-1 mark in conference play. The Captains are coming off a 3-1 victory over Methodist last weekend, and have won three of their last four games.
Senior
Kendall Dishaw leads the offense, scoring a team-high four goals so far this season for eight points. Sophomores
Carly Utterback (3 goals) and
Emma O'Reilly (2g, 1a) also contribute to an offense that is scoring 2.09 goals per game.
On Saturday, the Captains will take on Meredith, with a 4-7-4 mark and 1-3-2 record in the USA South. Meredith was second in the USA South last season behind only CNU and this year the Avenging Angels are led by Jesse Davis, with 19 points on seven goals and five assists.
