RALEIGH, N.C. -- Christopher Newport University sophomore Emma O'Reilly led a scoring barrage by the Captains at Meredith College (4-7-4, 1-3-2) today, as CNU cruised to a 5-1 victory in USA South action. O'Reilly scored twice, while senior Kendall Dishaw netted the gamewinner. 

The Captains got on the board early, scoring just 2:16 into the match when O'Reilly connected for her fourth goal of the season. The Avenging Angels tied it up in the 23rd minute when Jesse Davis curved in a corner kick for the home team's only score of the afternoon.

CNU re-took the lead just minutes later with the eventual gamewinner from Dishaw, her fifth goal of the season.

Rookie Joy Piirto scored early in the second half to give CNU a 3-1 advantage. Then, Christopher Newport scored a pair of back-to-back goals twenty minutes later when Julie Jennings scored in the 67th minute, followed quickly by the second of the day off O'Reilly's foot. The sophomore forward moved into a tie for the team lead in scoring with five goals and an assist. 

The Captains outshot Meredith, 14-8, in the game, including 11 shots on-goal. 

CNU will return to action on Sunday, at Peace College at 2:00 pm.
