Box Score EAU CLAIRE, WI- The Christopher Newport University softball team picked up a big win Sunday afternoon, staying alive in the NCAA Tournament. The Captains defeated Luther College of Iowa, 4-3, to eliminate the Norse in the double-elimination tournament.

Third baseman Jessie Atkinson had the big hit, blasting a three-run home run in the fifth inning for CNU. Kristen Rowe went the distance to pick up her 24th win of the season against just five defeats.

CNU is now 42-9 on the year and 2-1 in the National Championship. The Captains are now 6-1 in NCAA play this year.

Keith Parr's team will play Eastern Connecticut State later tonight in Eau Claire at approximately 8:30 pm (ET) with the winning team advancing to play tomorrow for the right to play in the Championship Game. Linfield and East Texas Baptist are the other two schools still alive.

CNU has already beaten Eastern Connecticut, 8-0, on Friday on the opening day of the "Elite 8."
