Box Score EAU CLAIRE, WI- Christopher Newport's softball squad had its five-game winning streak snapped Saturday night, losing to East Texas Baptist in the NCAA Tournament, 4-2. CNU is now 41-9 on the season and will play Luther (42-6) on Sunday at 3:30 (ET) in an elimination game in the double-elimination tournament.

The Captains fell behind early when the Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning off Captains starter Kristen Rowe. Rowe, who had thrown four straight shutouts, took the loss to fall to 23-5 on the season.

CNU's runs came on an RBI double from Jessie Atkinson in the third inning and a solo home run from Ashley Mani in the fifth inning. The Captains were held to just five hits in the game by two Tiger pitchers.

It was the second time East Texas Baptist beat Christopher Newport this season. The teams met in Florida in mid-March, when the Tigers beat the Captains, 3-2.
