Double Shutout as Softball Sweeps Peace, 2-0, 5-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2   RALEIGH, N.C. - CNU's fourth-ranked softball team began its weekend trip to Raleigh with a doubleheader shutout sweep of Peace, 2-0 and 5-0.
  In the first game Kristin Nickloy broke a scoreless tie with a one-out solo home run in the fourth inning. It was her second of the year. Still leading 1-0, the Captains added another in the seventh when Jen Falin walked and came home as Taylor Morgan reached on an error.
  Kristen Rowe went the distance in a four-hit shutout. She struck out nine and walked none in improving her record to 10-2.
  In game two CNU scored first in the fourth inning on an unearned run. In the fifth the Captains added three more as Falin drove in two with a single and Morgan another. Ashley Mani added an RBI single in the sixth.
  Mary Kennedy, Mani and Jessie Atkinson each had a pair of hits, with Atkinson adding two RBIs.
  Elizabeth Holte pitched a complete game shutout, limiting the Pacers to five hits.
  CNU is now 26-6 and 8-2 in the USA South. Peace has a 15-16 record and is 4-8 in conference.
  The Captains play two at Meredith Saturday beginning at noon.
