BURLINGTON, N.C. - Despite out-hitting Ferrum, 8-3, the CNU softball team dropped a 2-1 decision to Ferrum Sunday morning, eliminating the Captains from the USA South tournament.

  The Panthers scored twice in the fourth inning, getting all three of their hits in that frame.

  CNU battled back with a run in the sixth when Chelsea Mitchell singled and came home on a double by Jessie Atkinson. But with still no one out, CNU was unable to push across another run.

  Taylor Morgan and Renee Ashworth each had two hits for CNU, which will learn its NCAA fate in early May. The Captains are now 36-8.
 
  Three Captains were selected to the all-tournament team, second baseman Jen Falin, shortstop Mary Kennedy and outfielder Renee Ashworth.
