NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – All-American Chelsie Schweers was chosen Virginia College Division Player of the Year for the third straight season, and CNU head coach Carolyn Hunter was chosen Coach of the Year in voting by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) it was announced Thursday.

Schweers, a junior from Chesapeake, Va., had already been named a first team All-American by both the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and d3hoops.com. She was the second leading scorer in the nation in Division III with a 24.5 average and led the nation in three-point shooting at .477.

She led CNU to its greatest season ever with a 30-1 record and berth in the NCAA Sweet 16. She closed her junior year with 1,999 total points and is just 74 short of CNU's all-time record of 2,073 set by Karen Barefoot.
