Box Score 2 PANAMA CITY, FL – A four-run seventh inning gave the CNU women's softball team a victory over St. Thomas, 9-7, in their first game of the day. The Captains shut out Denison in their second game improving their record to 10-2.
Big Seventh Inning Pushes CNU past St. Thomas
The first two innings of the game were scoreless with
Kristen Rowe on the mound for CNU and
Angela Philips for St. Thomas. The Tommies struck first with a run in the third inning. The Captains came back in the top of the fourth notching three runs with walks from
Taylor Morgan and
Chelsea Mitchell, and hits from
Kristen Nickloy and
Renee Ashworth.
St. Thomas picked up one run in both the fourth and the sixth to tie the game at 3-3. After a 1-out single by
Ashley Mani in the seventh, St. Thomas called upon pitcher,
Marta Radcliffe to replace the starter, Phillips. After walks from
Mary Kennedy and
Jessie Atkinson, Nickloy doubled to earn three RBI's making it a 6-3 game. The Captains added another run off of a single by Mitchell.
Rowe received the win for the Captains.

CNU Shuts Out Denison, 6-0
Elizabeth Holte pitched into the seventh inning and was the winning pitcher during CNU's second game of the Leadoff Classic. The Captains were led offensively with two hits each from
Chelsea Mitchell and
Renee Ashworth and one hit each from
Mary Kennedy and
Jessie Atkinson. Kennedy led the Captains in scoring with three runs.
The Captains scored a run in both the second and third inning and two each in the fifth and sixth innings to make the final 6-0.
