Top-Seeded Captains Host USA South Quarterfinal Tuesday Night

CNU will face off against #8 N.C. Wesleyan at 7 pm

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The 2010 USA South Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament begins Tuesday, and the top-seeded Captains of Christopher Newport (13-4-1, 8-0-0) will face off against the #8 seeded N.C. Wesleyan Battling Bishops (2-17-0, 2-7-0) at 7 pm.

CNU begins its title defense on Tuesday night against the same team they played in the opening round last season. The two teams just faced eachother last weekend, as the Captains dropped the Bishops in a 3-0 victory to round out their perfect conference season.

Senior Sam Ciaravino finished the regular season the league leader in points with 35. She scored the gamewinner against N.C. Wesleyan on Friday night, for her 15th goal of the season. CNU outscored league opponents 38-5 this season, led by a dominant defensive unit of Megan Conheeney, Alexis Stahlman, Julie Jennings and Britta McDonnell, all supported by sophomore goalkeeper Meghan Gumbs.

Kick-off will be at 7 pm on Captains Field. Live stats will be available here.
