NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Senior Sam Ciaravino (Burke, Va.) led the Captains to a program-best eighth straight victory today, as CNU (10-4-1, 6-0-0) cruised to an 8-0 victory over Peace College (1-14-0, 1-5-0). Ciaravino became the only Captain in women's soccer history to post three hat tricks in her career as she scored three times, including the gamewinner.

CNU scored all eight goals in the first 30 minutes of the game, including a run of four in a span of five minutes early in the game. Ciaravino's gamewinner came in the 9th minute of action off a 2 v. 1 pass from senior Lauren Fleming. Just over two minutes later, Shelby Walters added her third goal of the year off a pass from Annemarie Weaver, followed by back-to-back goals from rookie Emma O'Reilly and Ciaravino in the next three minutes.

The senior midfielder would cap off her hat trick in the 19th minute off a pass from the first of two assists by Vicki Fessler. She is the only Captain in CNU history to have three hat tricks in her career; earlier this year, she became just the second to post two, joining Laura McFerrin in the record books.

Freshman forward Carly Utterback also knocked home her first career goal, coming in the 27th minute of action.

With the win, CNU runs their win streak to eight, tying the all-time best mark, and are unbeaten in their last nine contests. CNU is outscoring opponents 33-4 in the current unbeaten streak.

The Pacers got five shots off in the game, including one on-goal in the second half as rookie goalkeeper Emily Brown made the save for CNU. The shot on-goal came from Kayleigh Simmons, who led the Pacers with two shots in the game.

CNU will return to action on the road next weekend, as they travel to Mary-Baldwin College for a 2:00 pm tilt on Saturday, October 23, and then to Shenandoah at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 24.
