NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport University women's soccer team will return home for a pair of USA South games this weekend, as they host Meredith College on Saturday, October 16 at 2 pm and then Peace College on Sunday, October 17 at 2 pm. CNU (8-4-1, 4-0-0) is riding a six-game winning streak as they take on Meredith (9-3-0, 3-1-0) tomorrow.
The Captains have been red hot, scoring 12 goals in their last three games, and are outscoring opponents 22-4 in their current seven-game unbeaten streak. Nine different players have scored in that span, and senior midfielder
Sam Ciaravino continues to lead the team in scoring, with 18 points. She has scored eight goals and has added a pair of assists for CNU.
The Saturday tilt will be big for CNU, as they welcome in last season's regular season champion squad, the Meredith Avenging Angels. Meredith boasts the 2009 USA South Player of the Year and current league-leading scorer Alex Calvert. Calvert has 10 goals this season as she continues to pace the Avenging Angels.
Sunday, the Captains host Peace College, who has just one win so far this season. CNU boasts a 6-0 all-time record against the Pacers, who are currently led by rookie midfielder Melissa Moran.
