Women's Soccer Battles to 2-2 Tie Kean

Newport News VA – The Christopher Newport University women's soccer team tied Kean University 2-2  Friday night on Captains field in the first round of the Captains Classic.

The Captains got on the board first as Emily Chesbro scored CNU's first goal of the year in the 15th minute. The lead did not last long as Kean was able to tie the game one minute later, when Carly Seidel beat Dineen Sampson off a Lara Kaminski pass. The Captains regained the lead in the 28th minute as Megan Conheeney took a Vicki Fessler pass and fired it past Kean goalkeeper Leandra Russo.  Kean was able to tie the game again 10 minutes later as Juliana Natale's shot found the back of the net.

The second half and two overtime periods were scoreless but saw senior Goalie Dineen Sampson make several amazing saves. Kean outshot Christopher Newport 25-8.
