VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Christopher Newport women's soccer team out-shot Stevenson, 25-8, but fell, 1-0, on the second day of the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament Sunday.

  Stevenson's Melinda Kane netted the game's only goal in the 63^rd minute, and then the Maryland squad held on for the win as Stevenson goalie Brittany Ross made 14 saves. Dineen Sampson had three saves for CNU.

  The Captains are now 0-3 and next host Kean in the Captains Classic Friday at 7:30.
