SALISBURY, MD – Christopher Newport's softball squad was eliminated from NCAA play Saturday with a 3-2 come from behind win by Salisbury.

The Captains took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the top of the fifth. Ashley Mani doubled home one run and Mary Kennedy squeezed in another.

The Sea Gulls cut the lead to 2-1 with a single run in the bottom of the inning.

In the seventh, Salisbury had two of its first three batters reach base and the two advanced to second and third on a CNU error. Kristen Rowe struck out the next batter, but surrendered a single up the middle that scored both runs giving the Sea Gulls the win.

Mani, Katie Moyers, Kristin Nickloy and Emily Garcia all had one hit for Christopher Newport.

Rowe tossed 6 2/3 innings, allowed three unearned runs, five hits, walked two and struck out seven. She finishes the year 20-4.

Salisbury improves to 37-5 while the Captains finish the year 36-8.
