Box Score HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse squad dropped a 20-11 decision at Hampden-Sydney Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers scored the first three goals of the game and seven of the first 10 to lead 7-3 at the end of one period of play. HSC owned the second quarter as well, out-scoring the Captains, 5-2, to lead 12-5 at the break.
Hampden-Sydney out-scored CNU in the second half, 8-6.
Justin King led Christopher Newport with four goals and one assist. Rob Koster added three goals and one assist while Ryan Merrell had two scores. Matt Gleisner finished with one goal and one assist, Zach Hill scored once and Rob Duca added an assist.
The Tigers out-shot the Captains, 48-47. Jackson Tyler had 15 stops in the cage for CNU.
HSC improves to 7-8 while Christopher Newport falls to 8-6. The Captains conclude the season Saturday when they host St. Mary's (MD) at 1 pm.
