NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's men's lacrosse squad defeated Guilford, 12-8, Saturday afternoon.

The Captains scored the first three goals of the game before the Quakers found the back of the cage with 1:50 left in the first period. Each team would tack on another goal in the final 51 seconds, with CNU leading, 4-2, at the end of one.

Both teams scored twice in the second and Christopher Newport would lead 6-4 at the break.

In the third, CNU scored four times, limiting Guilford to just two goals. Both teams scored twice in the fourth for the final margin.

Rob Koster led the Captains with five goals and one assist. Matt Gleisner scored four times and assisted on another. Zach Hill, John Glaser and Ryan Merrell all scored once. Justin King finished with two assists and Nick Lynch and Tripp Baldwin both had one assist in the win.

Christopher Newport out-shot the Quakers, 38-34. Jackson Tyler finished with 13 saves in the cage.

Guilford falls to 3-8 on the year while the Captains improve to 7-5. CNU returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Randolph with start time set for 1 pm.
