NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's women's lacrosse squad shut out Ferrum College Saturday afternoon in a USA South match.

The Captains scored four times in the first 3:23 of the game and rolled from there. CNU led 11-0 at the break.

Christopher Newport scored seven more in the second half.

Meghan Harkey led CNU with three goals. Kaitlin Quigley finished with two goals and three assists. Alyssa Burke finished with two goals and one assist. Katie Doherty had one goal and four assists and Jacqui Williar added one goal and two assists. Chrissy Rogers, Shayna Sargent and Mea Arnold all totaled one score and one helper.

Krysten Johnson, Christine Mike, Becky Abood, Amy Suddarth, Liz Klemens and Kelsie Dodd all finished with one goal each.

The Captains out-shot the Panthers, 33-2. Gayle Robinson played the first half and made one save while Kristen Duca played the second half and also made one save.

FC falls to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in USA South play. Christopher Newport improves to 4-2 on the year and 2-0 in conference action.

The Captains return to action Thursday when they travel to Lynchburg with start time set for 6:30 pm.
