Women's Soccer Blanks N.C. Wesleyan, 4-0, in USA South Quarterfinal

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Sam Ciaravino scored three first half goals as CNU won its quarterfinal USA South game with N.C. Wesleyan, 4-0, at Captains Field Tuesday night.

Ciaravino got CNU on the board quickly in the ninth minute off an assist by Kendall Dishaw, driving it into the upper left corner. In the 38th minute Lauren Fleming provided the assist on Ciaravino's second goal, which she deposited into the lower left corner. The junior from Burke, Va. made it 3-0 less than a minute from halftime with her hat trick goal.

Erin Edmundson finished the scoring 1:15 from the end. 

Dineen Sampson and Meghan Gumbs split time in the goal, with Gumbs making two saves.

CNU out-shot the Bishops, 25-4, in improving its record to 10-7-3. N.C. Wesleyan is 5-13-1.

The Captains move on to the USA South semifinals to be held Friday at Martinsville, Va.
