ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The CNU women's soccer team built a 4-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 5-1 win over N.C. Wesleyan to finish the regular season.
Five different players scored for the Captains, starting with
Megan Conheeney who tallied on a pass from
Kendall Dishaw in the 14th minute. Five minutes later
Sam Ciaravino scored with help from
Tiffany Van Decker and the Captains coasted from there.
Katie Jaywork and
Elise Haug added first half goals, and
Brittany Rubin added another in the second half, to lift CNU to 9-7-3 overall, and 7-0-2 in USA South play heading into the conference tournamnent which begins with quarter-final games Tuersday at the home sites of the top four teams. The seedings will be released Saturday.
Dineen Sampson and
Meghan Gumbs split the game in goal, with Gumbs making the only save needed as CNU out-shot the Bishops, 17-3.
