NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Christopher Newport Women's Soccer team lost to cross water rival Virginia Wesleyan 4-2 on Wednesday night in Virginia Beach.
The Captains fell behind in the game 3-0 before
Megan Conheeney could get them on the board in 69th minute. Conheeney scored from five yards out off a corner kick from
Brittany Rubin.
Virginia Wesleyan would answer five minutes later to put the game out of reach when Katie Gradel was able to score the Marlins' fourth goal of the game.
The Captains would add one more goal in the 74th minute when
Jenn Campbell scored from about 20 yards out to set the final score at 4-2.
With the lost the Captains fall to 7-7-2 overall. CNU will return to action this weekend when they host Mary Baldwin on Saturday at 4pm and Shenandoah on Sunday at 2pm.
