NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Christopher Newport women's soccer team defeated St. Mary's (MD) 2-1 at Captains Field Friday night. 

   The Captains fell behind 1-0 in the 30th minute when St. Mary's Tori Eskay was able to fire a shot to beat CNU keeper Dineen Sampson.

   The lead would not last long as CNU senior Jenn Campbell took a pass from Shelby Walters, beat one defender and sent the ball into the back of the net to tie the score at 1-1.

   Campbell would not be done as she scored the eventual game winner 40 seconds into the second half. Tiffany Van Decker was credited with the assist.

   With the win the Captains improve to 4-6-1 and St. Mary's falls to 4-7.

   The Captains will be back in action next weekend when they host Methodist on Saturday and Greensboro on Sunday. Both games will start at 1pm.
