NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The CNU Captains defeated the Meredith 4-2 on Saturday afternoon to move into first place in the USA SOUTH.

   Christopher Newport (6-6-2, 4-0-1 USA South) got on the board first 36 minutes into the game with a goal from Sam Ciarivino. The Captains took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Meredith (9-3-1, 4-1 USA South) got onto the board first in the second half, tying up the game 1-1 off of a goal from Alex Calvert assisted by Emmy Errante. CNU then went on a scoring spree to extend their lead by scoring three goals from Katie Jaywork, Meghan Arbegast and Kendall Dishaw in an 11 minute time frame. Meredith finished the scoring off of an unassisted goal from Maggie Hart.

The Captains will return to action tomorrow afternoon to play at Peace. That game is scheduled to start at 2pm.
