NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport defeated Ferrum Saturday, 13-10, to win the USA South Athletic Conference Championship. The Captains will advance to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in eight years of football play.
 
Jay Graham kicked two field goals, including the game-winner, a 30-yarder with 6:43 to play. The victory was the eighth straight for CNU, the longest winning streak in school history.
 
 
Tunde Ogun rushed for 181 yards on 35 carries for Christopher Newport, sealing the conference rushing title. Ogun finishes the regular season with 1634 yards and 14 touchdowns.
 
 
Quarterback 
Matt Long scored the only touchdown of the day for CNU, a 1-yard plunge to start the second quarter.
 
The NCAA field will be announced Sunday afternoon live on ESPN News between 3 and 3:30 pm.
 
The Captains finish the regular season with an 8-1 overall record and a 7-0 mark in the USA South, the first time they have ever completed a regular season unbeaten in conference play.
 
Ferrum finishes with a 7-3 record and a 5-2 mark in conference play.
