ROCKY MOUNT, NC – Christopher Newport's football squad trailed by nine points after three quarters and
Tunde Ogun broke his own single game rushing record to help the Captains to a 27-26 win at NC Wesleyan Saturday.
Ogun rushed for 254 yards last week against Methodist and shattered that mark by rushing for another 283 yards on 36 carries. He averaged almost eight yards per carry and scored two touchdowns, bringing his total to 11 in the last four games and 13 for the year.
NC Wesleyan scored on the opening possession, driving 74 yards on four plays. CNU responded with 4:33 to on Ogun's first score, a 14-yard scamper.
The Bishops re-gained the lead with 12:36 left in the first half on a 26-yard field goal. Ogun then scored his second, this time from 11 yards out to put Christopher Newport back on top, 14-10. NC Wesleyan responded with a 76 yard, five play drive to take the lead 16-14 at the half.
Jay Graham kicked a 43-yard field goal with 12:13 left in the third to put CNU back on top, 17-16. The Bishops responded with two scores to lead 26-17 with 3:44 left in the third.

T.J. Foster on a post route with 7:45 to play in the game to cut the lead to two. After forcing Wesleyan to punt, the Captains took over and rode Ogun into field goal range and Graham booted his second game-winner, this one from 35 yards out.
NC Wesleyan falls to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the USA South. Christopher Newport improves to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in conference action. CNU returns home next weekend for Homecoming as they host Averett with kick-off set for 1 pm.
