ROCKY MOUNT, NC – Christopher Newport's men's basketball squad dropped a 123-88 decision on the road to NC Wesleyan Tuesday night.
It was a great night shooting for the Bishops as they set a team record with 18 three-pointers. They were also hot overall, finishing 45-of-74 (61%) from the floor, 18-of-32 (56%) on three-pointers and 15-of-21 (71%) from the free throw line.
Jarmel Arrington was red hot off the bench, finishing with 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including 6-of-9 from behind the arc. Lenny Hall, who became the school's all-time leading scorer, finished with 21 points and seven assists.
Jarvis Cobb added 17, Adam Coleman had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Trey Drake contributed 14 points.
For CNU, they finished 37-of-80 (46%) from the floor, 4-of-25 (16%) from long range and 10-of-22 (46%) from the line.
Davon Barton paced the Captains with 18 points and seven assists. Theo Baker added 16 while Thomas Whinnett had 14 points. Michael Green finished with 12 and Conley Taylor had 10.
NC Wesleyan improves to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the USA South. CNU falls to 4-11 on the year and 0-2 in conference play.
Christopher Newport returns to action Saturday when they travel to Ferrum with tip-off set for 4 pm.
