NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer squad advanced to the USA South Tournament semifinals with an 8-1 win over Shenandoah Tuesday night.
The Captains scored six times in the first half and added two more in the second stanza.
Sam Ciaravino, Shaynna Ford, and Britta McDonnell each scored twice in the win.
Emily Chesbro finished with one goal and one assist and Brittany Revels posted one score in the win as well.
Lauren Flemming assisted on two goals as Carolyn Calhoun, Jenn Campbell and Megan Conheeney added one assist each.
CNU out-shot the Hornets, 25-2. Dineen Sampson played the first 69:21 of the game and made no saves. Erin Wojtkun played the remainder of the game and had one stop.
Shenandoah finishes the year 5-13. Christopher Newport improves to 13-6. The Captains return to action Friday as they take on Greensboro at 11:30 am in the semifinals at Methodist.
