NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer squad shutout Averett 9-0 Saturday evening at Captains Field.
CNU scored seven times in the first half and added two more in the second stanza.
Hannah Perry and Sam Ciaravino each scored twice for the Captains.
Jenn Campbell, Emily Chesbro, Amanda Peters, Katie Jaywork, and Brittany Revels each scored once in the win.
Marica Betoney led the way with three assists while Brittany Shumate, Peters and Revels each added one assist in the win.
Christopher Newport out-shot the Cougars, 29-0. Erin Wojtkun had no saves in net for CNU.
Averett falls to 1-12 overall and 0-5 in the USA South. The Captains improve to 8-5 on the year and 5-0 in conference play.
Christopher Newport returns to action Sunday as they host Ferrum with kick-off set for 3 pm.
