VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Over 200 Christopher Newport student-athletes were recognized on Tuesday as the Coast-to--Coast Athletic Conference announced the 2025-26 All-Academic Team. In total, 213 CNU student-athletes earned their spot on the All-Academic team, continuing a stretch of eight straight years that over half of the participating Captains have earned the academic honor. 

Christopher Newport had 61.2 percent of their 348 total student-athletes that compete in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference earn the academic recognition. It stands as the third highest percentage since joining the league in 2013-14 and the highest mark in five years. 

As a conference, a total of 1,054 student-athletes earned C2C All-Academic certificates. That mark represents 64.2 percent of all student-athletes in the league that earned recognition for achieving a 3.20 grade-point average for the academic year while participating in one or more of the C2C Championship sports. 

There were many standout student-athletes for the Captains academically this year, including 36 Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Communicators. Among them, a pair of CNU scholars earned Academic All-Americans as Alyssa Dozier and Hanna Heaton each earned a spot. Dozier was also pegged the C2C Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year after earning the Klich Academic Achievement Award at the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign. 

This year, 18 Captains garnered the Academic All-Conference recognition for a fourth time as they finished out their tenure at CNU. Included in that group were All-Conference baseball standouts Sam Benedict and Josh Reinhold alongside All-Region soccer stars Kyleigh Gough and Asher Kuzemka. Vincent Truong, one of the most decorated men's tennis players in program history, also hauled in his fourth consecutive All-Academic selection.
