NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University softball returns to action on Sunday following an eight-day layoff. The Captains will play a doubleheader at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C., with the first pitch of the twin bill set for 1:00 p.m.
Keith Parr's squad is 19-9 on the year, and the Captains last saw action on Saturday, April 4th, when they split a twin bill with the University of Lynchburg at Captains Park. The Avenging Angels of Meredith, meanwhile, have a mark of 18-12 after winning two games on Saturday at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. The Angels also have a record of 11-1 so far in the USA South Athletic Conference.
CNU and Meredith have played 43 games in the past, and Christopher Newport holds a 40-3 lead in the all-time series. The Captains have won the last 19 games in the series, including two last year at Captains Park by scores of 18-1 and 8-0.

CNU returns home to play Roanoke College twice next Sunday, April 19th, with Senior Day ceremonies set to take place before the 12:30 p.m. first pitch.
