NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Nwport University softball squad looks to get back in the win column, with four scheduled games this weekend in the Grand Slam Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C.
Keith Parr's squad will play two games on Saturday and two more on Sunday afternoon. Saturday's schedule has CNU playing Tufts University in a 1:30 p.m. start, and then a 4:00 p.m. game vs. Muhlenberg College. On Sunday, the Captains will take on William Peace University, with first pitch set for 12 noon, and then later conclude the weekend with a 2:30 p.m. game vs. Sweet Briar College.
Christopher Newport is 3-3 so far this season, and ranked ninth in the nation this week. The Captains have lost three straight games, and are coming off a pair of losses on Wednesday at second-ranked Virginia Wesleyan University.Â
Following this weekend's action, CNU will return home to play in the Cross Bay Bash next weekend at Captains Park. CNU will play two games each day, taking on the University of Rochester (11:00 a.m.) and Southern Virginia University (4:00 p.m.) on Saturday, March 14th, and Rochester (1:30 p.m.) and Susquehanna University (4:00 p.m.) on Sunday, March 15th. Â
