CNU Women's Lacrosse Punctuates Homestand with Noon Bout against Ursinus on Saturday

Live Stats // Video Stream

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
Capping off a three-game homestand, the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will welcome Ursinus to town for a noon battle on Saturday at Jennings Family Stadium.

Entering the weekend, CNU sits at 5-1 on the season, including 5-0 at home. Meanwhile, Ursinus is 4-2 overall and 1-2 on the road.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport is coming off of a 14-8 victory over No. 23 Haverford on Wednesday. The six-goal win was the program's largest against a nationally-ranked foe since upending No. 23 Lynchburg, 17-4, on March 24, 2021.

On an individual level, Elena Sorkin matched her career-high with five goals, including three in the first quarter. Faith O'Connor also chipped in with four points, including three strikes. With that outburst, she became the first player in program history to open a season with six consecutive hat-tricks.

Adding another layer to her historic streak, O'Connor became just the fifth Captain to collect six straight hat-tricks at any point during a season. She joined an illustrious group headlined by CNU Hall of Famers Kaitlin Quigley (8 straight hat-tricks in 2010) and Ashton Marshall (6 straight in 2011) as well as former stars Elena Obregon (7 straight in 2013) and Syd Guidi (7 straight in 2024).

Along with her offensive efforts, O'Connor also pulled in a career-high nine draw controls, while Brookelyn Morrison notched five to go along with four caused turnovers. Gabby Saia also had four strips for the victors, and Jess Hulse notched a pair.

With her performance, Hulse became the 10th different Captain this year to record at least two takeaways in a single game.

Between the pipes, Hadley Chadwick secured eight saves, which matched her season-high. Wednesday's win was also her 36th career triumph, tying longtime legends Gayle Robinson and Hanna Slough for the most in program history. It was also her sixth victory against a nationally-ranked opponent, equaling the combined total registered by every other goalie in CNU lore.

One of the most seasoned goalkeepers in the NCAA, Chadwick has played 3,415 minutes during her standout career. That stands as the third-most by any active goalie in the nation, trailing only Boston College's Shea Dolce (3,992) and Northwestern's Jenika Cuocco (3,567).

Chadwick also slots 14th among all active goalies with 385 career saves, while Morrison sits third among current players with 138 caused turnovers.

Ursinus enters the weekend after beating Alvernia, 20-1, on Wednesday. During that contest, junior Dana DeSiato registered 11 points, which equaled the second-highest total in school history. She eventually finished the day with seven assists and four goals while eclipsing 100 career points.

Overall this season, DeSiato ranks fourth in the NCAA with 22 assists and 27th with 30 total points. She has handed out at least three assists in each of the team's six games. Meanwhile, Ashley Noto leads the Bears with 17 goals, while Addi Guthrie-Pimpinella has a .457 save percentage and 8.04 goals-against-average.

Saturday's game will mark the second all-time meeting between CNU and Ursinus. Last year, the Captains collected a 14-6 win in Pennsylvania. During that game, Drew Stanley scored four goals for the victors, while Chadwick notched nine saves.

After this weekend, Christopher Newport will hit the road for a 5 p.m. contest at Shenandoah on March 18.
