NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Recent Christopher Newport University graduate
Jamie Martin was named Academic All-District Tuesday by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Martin, from Lorton, Va., was voted the Pitcher of the Year in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference this year for the second straight season, and was also the league's Scholar/Athlete of the Year.
Martin majored in Neuroscience with minors in Leadership Studies and Chemistry. She was named first team All-Conference in the C2C and first team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Christopher Newport finished the 2025 season with a record of 37-6 and advanced to the program's 18th consecutive NCAA Tournament. Martin and her senior teammates compiled a record of 149-27 (.847) over the last four seasons, advanced to the National Finals twice, and won the program's first National Championship in 2022.
This spring, Martin was named conference Pitcher of the Week five times and posted a record of 16-4 with a 1.66 earned run average. She appeared in the circle in 24 games, making 21 starts and threw nine complete games and five shutouts. Martin also recorded two saves and struck out 161 batters in 122 innings while walking just 28. She tossed a five-inning perfect game vs. Meredith that saw her strike out all 15 batters that came to the plate. For the season, she held opposing batters to a .195 average.
For her career, Martin won 62 games and lost just 13 with a career ERA of 1.44. She posted 541 strikeouts in 456 innings, while walking just 81. Martin was the National Freshman of the Year in 2022.
