NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University's
Jamie Martin received yet another post-season honor on Wednesday. Martin, one of the top pitchers in CNU softball history, was named the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference's Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She becomes just the second CNU student-athlete to receive the honor, joining Track & Field's Adrianna DeSantis, who won the award in 2022.
Martin, who graduated in May, was previously named Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
The hard-throwing lefthander enjoyed a remarkable four-year run with
Keith Parr's squad, advancing to the NCAA Tournament in each season of her career. She was selected third-team All-America by the CSC following the 2025 season, and was named Academic All-District by the CSC.
Martin majored in Neuroscience with minors in Leadership Studies and Chemistry, and was selected the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Softball Scholar/Athlete of the Year. She.became just the second CNU softball standout to be honored as Academic All-America, joining Grace Wild, who was also a third-team Academic All-American in 2020.
The Lorton, Va., native received three different All-American accolades during her illustrious career. She was named second team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) this season after being named second team All-American in 2022 following her freshman season that ended with CNU's first-ever National Championship. Martin was awarded the C2C's Pitcher of the Year honor the last two seasons, and was also named first team All-Conference in the C2C and first team All-Region by the NFCA this spring.
During the recently-completed 2025 season, Martin was named conference Pitcher of the Week five times and posted a record of 16-4 with a 1.66 earned run average. She appeared in the circle in 24 games, making 21 starts and threw nine complete games and five shutouts. Martin also recorded two saves and struck out 161 batters in 122 innings while walking just 28. She threw a five-inning perfect game vs. Meredith that saw her strike out all 15 batters that came to the plate. For the season, she held opposing batters to a .195 average. For her career, Martin won 62 games and lost just 13 with an ERA of 1.44. She posted 541 strikeouts in 456 innings, while walking just 81.
Martin's fantastic career also included being honored as the National Freshman of the Year in 2022, and following the completion of her career this spring she had her uniform number 28 retired by the CNU softball program.
