Paul Crowley today announced the release of the 2025 Captains schedule. CNU will host Trine University (Ind.) to open the 25
th season of CNU football on Saturday, September 6
th, at 1:00 p.m. at TowneBank Stadium.
"We face an extremely challenging schedule this coming season," Crowley said. "Just as it is every year, the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) schedule is going to be difficult week in and week out. This year will also include the program's first-ever trip to Vermont. We also face strong out-of-conference opponents with storied histories. Our student-athletes are excited for these opportunities, as well as being a part of the incredible atmosphere at TowneBank Stadium."
Crowley and the Captains recorded a 7-3 record last season, and a second-place finish in the NJAC behind only Salisbury. The 2025 home schedule will conclude with the Sea Gulls traveling to Newport News on November 8
th for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
CNU will play five home games at TowneBank Stadium in 2025; two in September, one in October, and two in November. After the home opener against Trine, the Captains will travel to Gettysburg, Pa., for the second straight year to take on Gettysburg College on September 13
th at 1:00 p.m.
After an off week, the Captains will host Susquehanna University on Saturday, September 27
th, at 1:00 p.m. at TowneBank Stadium. It will be the first meeting ever with the River Hawks, and the game will be played during Family Weekend celebrations on the CNU campus.
The 2025 campaign will be the tenth for the Captains as a member of the NJAC, and Christopher Newport's six-game conference schedule will begin on Saturday, October 5
th, when CNU travels to Glassboro, N.J., to take on the Profs of Rowan University in a 1:00 p.m. start. The Captains will follow the trip to New Jersey with a journey to Vermont to take on Vermont State University in Castleton, Vt. The 2025 season will be the first for the Spartans as members of the NJAC.
The lone October home game will have the Captains hosting Kean University on Saturday, October 18
th, with kick off at 1:00 p.m. The battle with the Cougars of Kean will come during Homecoming and Hall of Fame weekend at CNU.
On November 1
st, Christopher Newport hosts Montclair State University in a 1:00 p.m. start. The game will feature a celebration of the 25
th season of CNU football, and the first football team from 2001 will be recognized.
In addition to the Gettysburg, Rowan, and Vermont State games, Christopher Newport's away schedule will also include two trips to New Jersey for NJAC battles at William Paterson University (October 25
th at 1:00 p.m.) and the regular season finale at the College of New Jersey (Friday, November 14
th at 6:00 p.m.).
The Christopher Newport football program began play in 2001, and has enjoyed tremendous success over its first 24 seasons. CNU has compiled an all-time record of 149-92 for a winning percentage of .618. The Captains have won 11 conference titles, and recorded an all-time conference record of 118-45 (.724). Christopher Newport has advanced to the NCAA Tournament 11 times, including the first four years in program history.
