Brookelyn Morrison and Madi Rozgonyi Haul in USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-American Nods

SPARKS, Md. -- Two members of the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse program will enter the 2025 campaign as Preseason All-Americans after Brookelyn Morrison and Madi Rozgonyi received the national recognition from USA Lacrosse Magazine on Thursday morning.

Morrison was named a third-team All-American by the publication, while Rozgonyi collected honorable mention plaudits. Both Captains earned the honor for the first time.

Together, Morrison and Rozgonyi also became just the second set of teammates to earn the prestigious recognition in the same season. Previously, only the 2023 squad had multiple honorees after Emma Jackson, Kendall Krause, and Kelsey Winters were celebrated together.

Morrison enters her junior campaign after orchestrating an All-American season in 2024. During her second year with the program, she established a new school record with 54 caused turnovers. That also led the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference and ranked 13th in the entire NCAA.

Along with her work on the defensive end, Morrison also chipped in with 85 draw controls and 53 points. She was one of only 10 players from any level of the NCAA to finish last year with at least 50 points, 50 takeaways, and 50 draws. Meanwhile, her seven man-up goals also established a new single-season school standard.

Through just two years with the Captains, Morrison is already a two-time All-Conference, All-State, and All-Region honoree.

A staple on the back line, Rozgonyi has established herself as one of the top defensive stalwarts in the country. Entering her senior season, she has started all 61 games in her career, which equals the sixth-longest "Iron Man" streak in program history. Her 79 total takeaways also rank sixth all-time.

Adding to her remarkable résumé during an award-winning junior season, Rozgonyi was an All-Conference, All-State, and All-Region performer in 2024. During the year, she ranked eighth in the league with 21 caused turnovers, including a pair against Catholic in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to her work on the back line, Rozgonyi has also carved out a vital role on the squad's clearing unit, which successfully converted 86 percent of its attempts last season.

Christopher Newport will open the 2025 campaign on February 15 with a 4:30 p.m. test at Lynchburg.
