SPARKS, Md. -- Brookelyn Morrison and
Elena Sorkin will represent the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse program in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game, which will be hosted by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Saturday at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.
Morrison and Sorkin will compete as members of the Blue All-Stars while taking part in the Division III game starting at 10 a.m. Later in the day, the Division I contest will begin at 12:30 p.m., while the Division II tilt will wrap up the day at 3 p.m.
For those fans interested in attending the festivities, admission for all three games is free of charge.
The standout duo is just the fourth CNU tandem to earn a spot in the Senior Game in the same season. Previously, Christopher Newport also sent a pair of competitors in 2019, 2023, and 2024.
Overall, 15 Captains have been selected to represent the program in the prestigious competition, including CNU Hall of Famers Kaitlin Quigley (2011) and Meaghan Galvin (2017) as well as former All-Americans Sarah Culver (2019), Kendall Krause (2023), and Kelsey Winters (2024).
One of the most decorated standouts in program history, Morrison capped off a record-breaking career in the spring. A consensus first-team All-American in 2026, she established new single-season school records with 131 draw controls and 58 caused turnovers. Coupled with her 50 goals and 53 ground balls, she became just the ninth collegiate lacrosse player since 2020 to finish a year with at least 50 strikes, 50 rollers, 50 takeaways, and 100 draws.
Stockpiling awards throughout the year, Morrison was hailed as USA Lacrosse National Player of the Week on February 17, the IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week on March 24, and the IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week on May 12. She was the only standout in the NCAA to sweep the country's top offensive and defensive awards during the 2026 campaign.
Aided by her award-winning senior season, Morrison finished her tenure as the program's all-time leader with 372 career draw controls, 178 caused turnovers, and 169 ground balls. A three-time All-American, she also set a new school standard with 84 career appearances while finishing eighth all-time with 233 points.
Capping off her career with one of the finest offensive campaigns in school history, Sorkin tormented the opposition throughout a sensational senior season. During the spring, she ranked 14th in the NCAA with 73 goals. That also marked the third-highest total in program history and the finest performance by a Captain since 2013. Additionally, she chipped in with a career-high 15 assists while ranking 11th on the school's all-time leaderboard with 88 total points.
A first-team All-Conference and All-Region selection, Sorkin scored at least once in 22 of her 23 appearances, including 13 hat-tricks. Meanwhile, her run of 14 consecutive multi-goal eruptions from March 7 through April 29 marked the longest streak in school history. Her record-setting stretch included a seven-goal outburst at No. 15 Rowan on April 4. That equaled the fifth-highest single-game total by a Captain and the finest effort against a nationally-ranked foe.
In just two seasons at CNU, Sorkin posted 104 goals, which ranks 20th on the program's all-time charts. She also compiled a remarkable 2.48 goals-per-game rate during her tenure. That stands as the eighth-best by a Captain.
Morison and Sorkin helped lead Christopher Newport to the program's first appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals during the 2026 campaign. Along the way, the Captains registered a 16-7 record while finishing the year ranked 12th in the IWLCA National Coaches Poll.
