NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University is back at Captains Park Saturday afternoon, hosting the Spartans of York College (Pa.). The doubleheader is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
Keith Parr's squad is off to a 4-0 start this season, and the Captains have out-scored their opponents, 28-7, over the first four victories. The Captains, ranked ninth in the nation in the pre-season poll from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), opened the year on Sunday with a sweep at Ferrum College, and followed with a sweep in their home opener on Wednesday over Randolph College at Captains Park.
Fifth-year senior third baseman
Brooke Greaver has led the Captains at the plate through the first four victories. Greaver has hit three home runs, driven in 11, and has four hits in eight at bats. Greaver was selected the Player of the Week this week in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference, and now has hit 29 career home runs, tied with Bailey Roberts for fifth on the all-time list.
Senior
Jamie Martin has had a stellar start as well in the circle for CNU. The lefthander is 2-0 and has struck out 19 batters in ten innings of work and has not yet allowed a run. Martin also earned a save in the nightcap vs. Randolph.Â
York College has not seen action yet this season, and the Spartans were 26-18 last year. The Captains and Spartans played at York College last year on April 17th, and CNU recorded wins by scores of 3-0 and 8-0 in a game shortened to five innings. The Captains lead the all-time series with York, 16-4.

Following Saturday's games, the Captains are home again next Tuesday, March 4th, to host the Cougars of Averett University. The doubleheader on Tuesday will also start at 3:00 p.m.
