Toa Hollenbeck Named C2C's Player of the Week Following 24 and 26-Point Performances

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University junior Toa Hollenbeck was honored on Monday, named the Coast-To-Coast (C2C) Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week. Hollenbeck led the Captains to a 2-1 record last week, averaging 19.3 points per game.

The Chesapeake product led the CNU attack with 26 points last Tuesday in a home win over the 12th-ranked Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan University, and also posted a 24-point performance vs. Denison University in a victory on Saturday in the Jay Bilas Classic in Charlotte, N.C. Hollenbeck scored 11 points in the opening half and 13 more after halftime against the Big Red of Denison, and ended the day seven-of-13 from the field and eight-of-nine at the foul stripe. He had a stellar week at the foul line, making 16 of 18 shots.

Hollenbeck also scored eight points in CNU's loss on Friday to seventh-ranked Emory University. He is now averaging a team-high 17.8 points per game. This marks the second time this season the Grassfield High School grad has received the conference accolade.

Christopher Newport has a record of 9-3 and will return to action in the Captains Shootout at the Freeman Center on December 29th and 30th. CNU will play Hood College on the 29th with tip off set for 7:00 p.m., and then will take on RIT on December 30th, also at 7:00 p.m.
