CNU Women's Golf Wraps Up Tartan Invitational With 11th Place Finish

FARMINGTON, Pa. -- Freshman Maddie Cameron fired a three-over 75 on the second day and all four counting scores were sub-80 for the CNU Women's Golf team as the Captains finished out the 2025 Tartan Invitational with an eleventh place finish. CNU finished at 51-over par with a 627 (319-308) over the 36-hole event.

Cameron climbed ten spots on the individual leaderboard and concluded the two-day tournament in 40th place overall with an 11-over 155 (80-75). On Tuesday, she recorded a season-low 75 with three birdies and 12 pars for the team low score in the second round. The rookie started the day with a triple-bogey but quickly righted the ship with eight straight holes at par or better including a birdie three on the 314-yard par four 14th. She also finished strong, with seven holes at par or better including her other two birdies on the 126-yard par three 7th and the 507-yard par five 11th, on which she closed out her day.

Finishing just two strokes ahead of her teammate on the leaderboard with a nine-over 153 (77-76), senior Julia Pelletier followed up her strong opening round with an even better performance on day two. She also birdied the par three 7th and par four 14th and matched Cameron with 12 pars. A pair of bogeys on the front nine and two doubles on the back marred an otherwise exceptional tournament performance from the Quebec native. This Fall, Pelletier has already matched her season-high for sub-80 rounds with four including both rounds of the Tartan Invitational.

The two-day event was won by second-ranked Emory University (-19) while No. 10 NYU (-11) and No. 1 Carnegie Mellon (-5) rounded out the top three of the star-studded tournament. Jiayi (Yoyo) Fu (-8) won the individual medalist title by one stroke for NYU ahead of Emory's Carys Code (-7).

On day two, rookie Gabi McGehee finished at six-over and senior Taylor Davis chipped in a seven-over score. McGehee climbed nine spots on the leaderboard to finish 61st with a 20-over par 164 (86-78); Davis finished 58th with an 18-over 162 (83-79). Davis had eleven pars in the second round while McGehee added nine pars and two birdies.

Rounding out the Captains' showing in Pennsylvania, senior Katie Watson (+15) finished out a two-day 159 (79-80) and ended her tournament in the top-50 at 48th overall. She sank a pair of birdie putts, including the 7th hole that saw four CNU players birdie, and the 423-yard par five 16th, that was the best hole of the day for CNU with four pars and one birdie.

The 308 second-round score for the Captains was the third-best single round performance of the year for the Captains. Cameron's second-round 75 was tied for the third lowest individual performance while Pelletier checked in with a top-ten showing, tied for seventh, with a 76.

Christopher Newport will return to action on Monday, October 20 at the Kingsmill Resort & Spa where the Captains will host the Historic Triangle Invitational as the final tune-up to the inaugural Colonial Women's Golf Conference Championship on October 27-28.
