MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Christopher Newport University travels to play Pfeiffer University Sunday afternoon at Merner Gymnasium. Tip off time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. as the 15th-ranked Captains play the final of four consecutive road games on the schedule. So far in the stretch away from home,
John Krikorian's squad has won two of three, most recently a 94-72 victory Monday afternoon at Cairn University in Langhorne, Pa.
The Captains are 15-4 on the season, and fifth-year senior All-American
Jahn Hines continues to lead the way. Hines scored 30 points on Monday, with 21 coming in the second half, as the Captains pulled away from Cairn. It marked the third time this season the Norfolk native has logged 30 or more points, and the 11th time this year in 19 games he has topped the team in scoring. Hines, who has been honored as an All-American three times, is now just 121 points shy of Steve Artis for second place on CNU's all-time scoring list.
The game with the Falcons on Sunday will be just the fourth all-time in the series. Pfeiffer has won two of the first three encounters, but last year at the Freeman Center the Captains recorded a 68-61 victory over the Falcons. The game marked the first battle of the programs since November of 1991.
Pfeiffer University, a member of the USA South Athletic Conference, has a record of 8-6 overall heading into the weekend. The Falcons, who are 4-2 in league play this season, travel to Raleigh on Saturday to take on William Peace University before hosting the Captains on Sunday.
Christopher Newport games are broadcast live on the Home of the Captains, Xtra 99.1 FM and CNUsports.com. The pre-game show will begin at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, and you can listen to the live action by clicking the CNU Radio link at the top of this story.

Following Sunday's game in North Carolina, the Captains will return to the Freeman Center next Saturday, February 1st, against UC Santa Cruz at 4:00 p.m., ending a 27-day stretch for the Captains without a home game. CNU will play three of its final five regular-season games at home prior to the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, which will be hosted by Salisbury University from February 27th through March 1st.
