This will be the fourth Final Four appearance for the Captains, who have previously advanced in 2016, 2019, and 2023. Christopher Newport will be challenged by an Emory team that will be playing in the Final Four for the first time in its history. The Eagles are 26-3 and advanced Thursday with an 83-78 triumph over Illinois Wesleyan. CNU and Emory have played four times in the past, and the Eagles hold a 3-1 edge in the all-time series. Emory beat the Captains back on December 19th in the Jay Bilas Classic in Charlotte, N.C., 98-65.Â
The second semifinal Saturday features the defending National Champions, Trinity (CT), against the University of Mary Washington, a fellow member of the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference. Following the Saturday Semifinals in Fort Wayne, the remaining two schools will play for the National Championship on April 5th in Indianapolis, Indiana.
