NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The 2024 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Softball Tournament gets underway Friday afternoon at Captains Park on the campus of Christopher Newport University, with two games scheduled. The tourney will be double-elimination format, and three teams will be taking part. In the opening game Friday at 2:00 p.m., second-seeded Salisbury will play third-seeded Mary Washington. The winner will then play the top seed, Christopher Newport, at approximately 5:00 p.m.
Action will continue on Saturday and Sunday, if necessary, at Captains Park. The complete schedule for the weekend:
Friday, May 10
G1: 2 PM - #2 Salisbury vs. #3 Mary WashingtonÂ

TEAM PREVIEWS
CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT
CNU is the top seed and is ranked third in the NFCA's Top 25 coming into the C2C Tournament. The Captains are 28-5 and have won 15 straight games.
Keith Parr is in his 21st season leading the program and has a record of 694-206-1 (.771). CNU is led by junior pitcher
Jamie Martin, the C2C Pitcher of the Year, and freshman outfielder
Candace Slaw, the conference's Rookie of the Year.Â
SALISBURY
The Sea Gulls are seeded second and are ranked fourth in the nation, and have a 34-3 record entering the C2C Tournament. Lacey Lord is in her fourth season leading the Sea Gulls, and last year led the squad to the National Finals. SU this year put together a 29-game winning streak to climb to the top ranking in the country. The Sea Gulls are led by fifth-year senior outfielder Abby Mace, the C2C's Player of the Year.Â
MARY WASHINGTON
The Eagles are the third seed in the tournament, and have a record of 15-21 on the season. Mary Washington is coached by Hannah Qualls, who is in her first season leading the Eagles. UMW is led by a trio of All-Conference performers, including senior outfielder Bridget Laychak, senior pitcher Caitlyn Burch, and junior outfielder Hannah Steele.
