SPARKS, Md. -- Syd Guidi and Kelsey Winters have been selected to represent the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse program in the 2024 IWLCA Senior All-Star Game, which will be held this Saturday at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters on Tierney Field in Sparks, Maryland.

The annual event features the top senior standouts from all three levels of the NCAA. Guidi and Winters will compete for the South All-Star Team in the Division III contest, which begins at 3 p.m.

Since 2007, 12 Captains have been selected to play in the prestigious competition. Guidi and Winters are the third pair of teammates to earn a spot in the same season. Last year, Kendall Krause and Riley Rafterry-Lee took part in the 2023 festivities, while Sarah Culver and Julia Golden played together in the 2019 game.

For those fans looking to attend the event, admission will be free of charge. Along with the Division III contest, the Division I game will take place at 10 a.m., while the Division II squads will compete at 12:30 p.m.

One of the sport's most lethal offensive threats, Guidi lit up the competition during her final collegiate campaign. Wrapping up a decorated four-year tenure, the senior star led the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference with 66 goals. That marked the fourth-highest total in program history and the top effort since 2018. Meanwhile, her .617 shooting percentage was also the fourth-highest single-season rate by a Captain.

Consistent throughout the year, Guidi scored at least once in 20 of the team's 21 games. Putting a fitting punctuation mark on her standout career, she capped off her tenure with 13 straight multi-goal efforts. That tied the longest streak in school history, matching CNU Hall of Famer Ashton Marshall's run from February 16 - March 30, 2013.

Among her finest efforts, Guidi pocketed six goals and seven total points during a victory over Widener on March 13. She also landed five tallies in back-to-back outings against Denison and Kenyon at the end of March before matching those eruptions against No. 7 Washington & Lee in the third round of the NCAA Tournament on May 18. That equaled the most goals by a Captain in the national playoffs in program history.

Along with her work on the offensive end, Guidi helped control possession while ranking fourth in the league with 63 draw controls. Her 14 draws at Lynchburg on April 13 also tied the single-game school record. For that performance, she was honored as the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on April 15.

A three-time All-Conference and All-Region selection, Guidi finished her career ranked seventh in school history with 161 goals. The Southborough, Massachusetts native also climbed to sixth in program lore with 170 draw controls and 76 career appearances, while her 27 free-position goals placed her eighth on the all-time charts.

Equally effective on the offensive end, Winters polished off her award-winning career as one of the game's elite facilitators. During her fifth year at Christopher Newport, she set a new program record with 74 assists. That total also led the league and placed her third in the entire NCAA. Remarkably, she ranked in the top-10 nationally in assists in each of her five seasons. Along with her work in 2024, she slotted fourth in the country in 2020 and 2023, eighth in 2022, and ninth in 2021.

During her final collegiate campaign, Winters handed out an assist in all 21 games, marking the longest streak in program history. Her eight helpers against Meredith on March 23 equaled the fourth-highest single-game total, while her seven assists at Lynchburg on April 13 matched the second-most in a road tilt. Later, she contributed five assists against No. 7 Washington & Lee in the third round of the NCAA Tournament on May 18, which tied the most by a Captain in the national playoffs.

Starring throughout the year, Winters eventually had 15 multi-assist efforts, including seven straight from March 5-27. She kicked off that run with five points during a win over No. 19 St. John Fisher. Tormenting nationally-ranked competition throughout the year, she also had four points at No. 14 York (Pa.) on March 27 and three in battles with No. 16 Roanoke on February 24 and No. 5 Salisbury on April 27.

Along with her passing skills, Winters also sank 24 goals during the year, including four against St. Mary's (Md.) on March 20. She eventually finished the season with seven multi-goal efforts, including one against Catholic during the second round of the NCAA Tournament on May 12. Her 98 total points led the conference and were the fifth-most in program history.

A four-time All-American, including a first-team selection in 2023 and 2024, Winters collected 277 assists during her standout tenure. That established a new Division III record and marked the second-highest total by any player in the history of collegiate lacrosse. The Harwood, Maryland native also set a new school record with 411 points.

Aided by the work of Guidi and Winters, Christopher Newport finished 2024 ranked 15th in the final IWLCA National Coaches Poll. Along the way, the Captains compiled a 14-7 record and reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
