NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Newport University softball squad heads to Raleigh, N.C., for a Sunday twin bill at Meredith College. The opening game is set for a 2:00 p.m. first pitch.

The Captains have a record of 16-5 and are ranked ninth in the nation by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Keith Parr's team is coming off a home split on Thursday, as CNU lost to Roanoke College in the opening game, 5-4, but bounced back to record a 7-0 victory in the nightcap.

Meredith is 11-9 so far this season, and coming off two losses at home on Saturday to Greensboro College. Christopher Newport and Meredith have played 37 times since the series began in 1995. The Captains have won the last 13 games played against the Avenging Angels, and CNU leads the all-time series, 34-3. The squads will also play later this month in a doubleheader at Captains Park that has been added to the schedule. The games will be Sunday, April 28th, at Captains Park beginning at 1:00 p.m.
