NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University hosts Roanoke College Thursday afternoon for a softball doubleheader at Captains Park. The opening game is set to start at 2:30 p.m.

The Captains have a record of 15-4 heading into Thursday's action, and Keith Parr's squad is ranked ninth in the country this week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). CNU is coming off its first two losses at home this year, following a sweep by DePauw University over the Captains last Wednesday. Christopher Newport is now 8-2 this year at Captains Park.

Roanoke College has a mark of 9-5, and the Maroons are riding a five-game winning streak. Roanoke swept a doubleheader last Friday at Eastern Mennonite University in its last action. CNU and Roanoke have met 30 times in the all-time series, and the Captains hold a 22-8 advantage. CNU has won the last three games, and 12 of the last 13.
