NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
For the first time in four weeks, the 21st-ranked Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will make an appearance at Jennings Family Stadium as the Captains are set to host Mary Washington for Senior Day on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Entering the weekend, CNU sits at 11-4 on the season, including 6-1 at home. Meanwhile, Mary Washington is 5-8 overall and 0-5 on the road.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Since their last home bout on March 23, the Captains have played contests in four different states during a lengthy five-game road swing. Despite the gauntlet, Christopher Newport comes into Saturday on a three-game winning streak, including a 19-4 triumph at Lynchburg last Saturday.

Piecing together a record-breaking appearance against the Hornets, Kelsey Winters handed out seven assists and landed a pair of goals. With that outburst, she wrapped up the day with 390 career points. That broke the previous league standard of 386, which was established by Mary Washington's Catherine Kennedy from 2009-12.

Along with Winters' work, Brookelyn Morrison established a new single-season school record with her 44th caused turnover of the year. Additionally, Syd Guidi collected 14 draw controls during the game, which tied the single-game program standard.

For their efforts, Winters and Guidi were celebrated as the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Players of the Week.

Fittingly, Winters and Guidi will be two of the nine veterans celebrated during the program's annual Senior Day ceremony on Saturday. Julia Iapicca and Hope Hunter join Winters as fifth-year seniors, while Guidi, Sloane McDonald, Eleanor Collins, Blake Hopkins, Emma Jackson, and team manager Paige Williams comprise the fourth-year class.

Together, they have helped Christopher Newport return to the national spotlight, including a trip to the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Aided by the efforts of the seniors, CNU has been nationally-ranked every year since 2021, including 11 straight polls dating back to last season.

Over the last four campaigns, the Captains have compiled a 44-29 record, including eight wins over nationally-ranked opponents and three straight trips to the conference championship.

Mary Washington enters the weekend after posting the program's most decisive victory of the season. On Wednesday, the Eagles upended Meredith, 18-6. Bridget Crowley had six points, including five assists, against the Avenging Angels. Molly Daw and Katie Blair also had four strikes apiece, while Anna Dube had four takeaways.

So far this season, Blair leads Mary Washington with 44 points, including 34 goals. Crowley also has a team-high 21 assists, while Daelyn Gregory has 18 caused turnovers. Between the pipes, Cailyn Tripp ranks 34th in the NCAA with a .487 save percentage. She also has a 10.62 goals-against-average and 112 total stops.

In 24 previous meetings between the two programs, Mary Washington holds a 17-7 edge in the series, although CNU has won the previous six bouts. Last year, the Captains notched a pair of wins, including a 17-8 victory in the semifinals of the league tournament.

After this weekend, Christopher Newport will wrap up the regular season on April 27 with a 1 p.m. showdown at No. 5 Salisbury.
