NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
Facing its third home game in one week, the 15th-ranked Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will welcome Haverford to town on Saturday at noon for a non-conference battle at Jennings Family Stadium.

Entering the weekend, CNU sits at 6-1 on the season, including 4-0 at home. Meanwhile, Haverford is 3-3 with a 2-2 mark on the road.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport extended its winning streak to three games on Wednesday after knocking off Widener, 18-5. Tied 4-4 early in the second stanza, the Captains scored 10 straight goals over the next 21 minutes to grab a double-digit lead on the way to the lopsided victory.

Headlining the action, Brookelyn Morrison registered six points and six caused turnovers, becoming the first player in program history to record six of each in a single outing. Syd Guidi also landed six goals for the victors, including a go-ahead tally in the second quarter that broke an early deadlock.

Meanwhile, Kelsey Winters handed out five assists. With that performance, she moved to 13th in NCAA history with 225 career helpers. The reigning All-American also inched closer to school history with her effort on Wednesday. Entering the weekend, she sits three points shy of breaking CNU Hall of Famer Meghan Harkey's program record of 346 career points.

Currently, Winters' 344 career points are the fourth-most among all active players in the NCAA. Her 225 career assists also place her first on the national charts among current student-athletes.

Among other Captains climbing historic charts, Emma Jackson is fourth in program history with 180 draw controls. She is just two away from moving into the third spot on the career charts and nine away from the No. 2 position. Morrison is also 10 away from becoming the 16th Captain to reach 100 career draws.

On the defensive side, Jackson is three takeaways shy of becoming the fourth player in program history to reach 80 career caused turnovers. Former legend Emily Johnson owns the school record with 89 strips, while Kendall Krause forced 82 turnovers, and Monica Evans notched 81.

Haverford comes into the weekend after dropping a 10-9 decision at Shenandoah on Thursday. After the Hornets raced out to a 3-0 lead, the Fords cut their deficit down to one on three occasions but could never quite pull even. Tiffany Mikulis landed a pair of goals, including a free-position tally with less than a minute left in regulation, but Shenandoah held off the late comeback bid to secure the win.

Overall this season, Mikulis ranks second on the team with 16 points, while Brooke Epstein leads the way with 18 goals and eight assists. On the defensive side, Eva Baumann has forced 10 turnovers and nabbed 11 ground balls. Between the pipes, Annie Bravacos and Lizzie Symonds have split the six starts while combining for a 9.03 goals-against-average and .475 save percentage.

In five previous meetings between the two programs, Haverford holds a 3-2 edge in the series. However, Christopher Newport won last year's tilt, 15-14. Trailing by five with 13 minutes left in regulation, the Captains pulled off the second-largest comeback in program history during the showdown at Swan Field. During the late push, Winters notched a pair of goals, while Morrison, Julia Iapicca, and Sloane McDonald each had one during the waning moments of regulation. Current team manager Paige Williams also had a pair of points and a game-sealing takeaway to polish off the win.

After this weekend, CNU will remain at home for a midweek test against St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
