FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Nearly 53 percent of Christopher Newport's student-athletes were named to the 2022-23 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference All-Academic team on Thursday, continuing a run of five straight years that at least half of the participating Captains have earned the academic honor. The league announced the All-Academic selections on Wednesday with 222 CNU student-athletes recognized for their success in the classroom.

As a conference, a total of 950 student-athletes earned C2C All-Academic certificates. That mark represents 60.3 percent of all student-athletes in the league that earned recognition for achieving a 3.20 grade-point average for the academic year while participating in one or more of the C2C championship sports. In addition, the Coastal Lacrosse Conference previously recognized 33 Christopher Newport men's lacrosse Captains for their academic achievements. 
 
There were many standout student-athletes for the Captains academically this year, including a CNU record 38 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections. Among them, four scholars were named Academic All-Americans: Sondra Fan (Women's Basketball), Abby Asuncion (Field Hockey), Adrianna DeSantis (Women's Track & Field), and Campbell Pozin (Men's Lacrosse). 
 
This year, 34 of Christopher Newport's seniors collected All-Academic recognition for the fourth time in their careers. Eight fifth-year Captains joined a select group of only five former Captains to become five-time Academic All-Conference picks after returning following the COVID-19 pandemic: Sondra Fan, Casey Yenyo, Thomas Mark, Campbell Pozin, Kendall Krause, Ethan Larson, Adrianna DeSantis, and Rebecca Frey.
