NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) unveiled its All-Academic team on Thursday, and 14 members of the Christopher Newport University football program were among those honored.
All first and second-team selections were filled by the league's full-member institutions. Christopher Newport competes in only football in the NJAC. To be eligible for the squad, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior, or senior who has competed in a conference-sponsored sport while achieving a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20.
The Captains had seven seniors, six juniors and one sophomore receive honorable mention honors from the league. The Christopher Newport student-athletes honored included:

The Christopher Newport football team is coming off a 7-3 season in 2022, and a second-place finish in the NJAC behind only Salisbury.
Paul Crowley's Captains are scheduled to open the 2023 season on Saturday, September 2, hosting the Knights of Southern Virginia University. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. at TowneBank Stadium.
